     James Outlaw Captain James Outlaw was a soldier in the Revolution, serving in the Company of his brother, Captain Alexander Outlaw, in an "expedition against the insurgents" and later as a lieutenant.
Commissioner of the town of Sarecta (never developed).
Captain in Duplin County militia, 1787 and 1788.
Served as a Justice on the County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for Duplin County, serving as Chairman at times. He married Elizabeth Grady, daughter of John Grady and Mary Whitfield. James Outlaw was born in 1744. He died on 22 April 1826 at Duplin County, North Carolina.

     Zebulon Rice married Mary (?) Zebulon Rice was master to an apprentice named John Carney for the term of six years to learn the "art and mystery" of a shoemaker on 10 August 1754 at Craven County, North Carolina.1 On 10 September 1777 Zebulon Rice was "listed as a person disaffected to the present Government of this State [i.e. a loyalist, and] appeared, And the Oath prescribed by the Act of Assembly being tendered to the said Rice, and he having refused to take the same, or give Bond and security for departing the state, Ordered that the sheriff of Craven County commit the said Zebulon Rice to the Gaol of the District of New Bern untill he can find some convenient Opportunity to send him out of the state according to Law." A note to the side of the Court entry reads, "Zebulon Rice took the Oath of Allegience and was discharged the 11 Sepr. 1777." at Craven County, North Carolina.2 He died circa 1788.
